Ritualistic doom band Dark Buddha Rising hail from Finland and with five albums already under their belt are of the highest caliber. Their psychedelic sprawling space jams are made up of expansive yet concentrated bellows of decaying distortion and broken-signal analogue bleeps, cannoning across antimatter, presented with staggering finesse. Despite the band’s low profile exposure during their first years, since their release of “Dakhmandal” in 2012 they have performed their black arts of psychedelia in many festivals and gained enough attention and fans, among them being Neurosis who invited them on 4day tour and signed them to their own label, Neurot Recordings who released their last album Inversum, receiving praise among the scene. Roadburn festival, invited them for a second time to participate on the festival’s 2016 edition, whereas Neurosis celebrated their 30th anniversary and the band performed in packed venue (with more people left outside), where they totally showed their uniqueness among their peers. 2017 found the band working on new material, which they toured in mainland Europe in November, performing also at the Le Guess Who festival, and once they returned home, they immediately recorded the material. In the same period, they started collaborating with their brothers Oranssi Pazuzu for Roadburn’s 2018 commissioned piece, which resulted in the forming of Waste of Space Orchestra. As one entity, the Orchestra performed at Roadburn’s main stage in front of more than 3000 people, performing music not presented before. On the same dates, Dark Buddha Rising released their second release for Neurot Recordings, the EP entitled “II” which they promoted in the same year, in festivals as St Helena, as co-headliners with Converge and also in one of the most respected festival, Dark Bombastic Evening festival in Romania. To close the year 2018, in co-operation with Svart Records, the band reissued their first 3 albums, which have been long sold out and supported them with a 16 shows tour in November 2018,  covering east and south European countries.  Dark Buddha Rising will embark on another tout this April to support their last EP and reissues of their first 3 albums before releasing their upcoming new studio album via Neurot Recordings. Sum of R was initially created in 2008 by Reto Mäder and ever since underwent several states of metamorphosis from atmospheric doom into ritualistic drone rock into dark ambient and experimental music. No longer an instrumental project, this new trio is now touring with their new incarnation, with Jukka Rämänen (Dark Buddha Rising, Hexvessel) and Marko Neuman (Dark Buddha Rising). They released a stunner of an album last fall on Consouling Sounds. Lahbryce was mixed by Victor Bullok, aka V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress).

After two years in the making, the band seals their long-awaited return in 2025 with the highly anticipated narrative sequel to “āl bēlūti dārû”: zamāru ultu qereb ziqquratu Part 1 (Music from inside the Ziggurat); is the first chapter of a set of 2 concept albums in which the band deepens its exploration of ancient Babylon with an almost mythical approach through the eyes of the exiled captives from Jerusalem.
Featuring contributions from 7 international collaborators, zam ru ultu qereb ziqquratu is poised to become one of the most ambitious projects in the doom scene in terms of production & conception and will be released by the finest label in the genre: Heavy Psych Sounds.
The album pushes sonic boundaries by featuring two drummers recorded simultaneously, creating the immersive effect of distant crowds. An eclectic mix of instruments, including the saz, viola, sitar, and bugle, blend with both analog and digital elements to enrich the soundscape. A nod to Turkish composer Fazıl Say is also present, with a quotation from his symphony Mesopotamia.
