When Finland’s first Death Metal boom started in the late 80s/early 90s, among the first of the Finnish Death Metal troops in the frontline were the underground legends Convulse. Like many of their comrades, the band churned out that dark, brutal, uncompromising style of Death Metal that the scene became well known for, culminating in the band’s 1991 debut album World Without God, released on the now-defunct French label Thrash Records. Shortly after, Convulse followed in the footsteps of many of their contemporaries and began flirting more and more with Progressive Rock elements. They first experimented with these elements on their EP Lost Equilibrium and fully refined them on their second full-length Reflections, both of which were released on Relapse Records. The band called it quits in 1994, making this arguably Death’n’Roll style the last anyone would hear of Convulse for a long time. 

Mouflon’s conquest began back in 2012 under the morbid influence of such infernal genre forefathers as Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, Demigod and Asphyx. The heavy and dark sound, characteristic for Mouflon, is a mix of old school death metal and doom metal that causes a variation in songs with sound waves that make many buildings tremble. Influenced by the old school bands but not acting like a retro band, Mouflon bounces from one head banging moment to the next with a sense of pure destruction! They play frantic and aggressive that results in a violent straight-in-your-face wall of sound.

"ABYSMAL DESCENT is a new Death Metal entity emerging from Brussel’s swamp of death. Forged from the ashes of Dehuman by R.S., L.L. (Putrid Offal, Echo Solar Void, Terrifiant) and M.D. (Echo Solar Void). this triumvirate of darkness has conjured a harrowing requiem of death metal that looms ominously in the shadows. R.M. (Neptunian Maximalism) and A.L. (Saqra’s Cult) soon joined the macabre orchestra to add abyssal bass-lines and old school laments on this dripping death music. Inspired by mighty bands of the genre such as Immolation, Morbid Angel and Incantation, ABYSMAL DESCENT is a relentless onslaught of gloomy malevolence. In May, they shall enter the studio to capture their primal fury on their inaugural EP, a sonic testament to the darkness that dwells within the abyss."
