Behind Blumi is Emma Broughton, a French-British singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist. After leaving a position as a political sociology researcher, she launched Blumi in 2018 and gradually built a singular musical universe, shaped as much by folk, jazz, classical music, as by her minute attention to lyrics and the voice. Over the years, she has collaborated with artists and musicians from the French and international independent scene, including Bon Iver, Feist, The National, Thousand, Mina Tindle, This Is The Kit and Bibi Club.
Her music leaves as much room for silence as for arrangements, while her slightly veiled voice moves through her songs with a controlled fragility that sometimes recalls Beth Gibbons, Rozi Plain or Adrienne Lenker.
